Discover the timeless beauty of a vintage fireplace mantel. With spring botanicals, enhance your home with this captivating focal point.
Vintage Fireplace Mantel
A vintage fireplace mantel can be a stunning addition to any home. It provides a glimpse into the past while adding warmth and character to the space. Whether you’re restoring an older home or simply appreciate the beauty of vintage design, a vintage fireplace mantel can be a captivating and timeless feature.
My favorite find this year was this vintage fireplace mantel on Facebook Marketplace. You can see more in the Vintage Fireplace Mantel Easy Install and Decorating Ideas post.
Vintage fireplace mantels are often sought after for their unique designs, craftsmanship, and historical significance. They can add a touch of elegance, charm, and character to a room, serving as a focal point and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the fireplace and the surrounding space.
Spring Botanicals
Spring botanicals in decor refer to incorporating elements of nature, such as flowers, plants, and foliage, into interior design during the spring season. This design approach aims to bring the freshness, vibrancy, and beauty of the outdoors into the home, creating a sense of renewal and rejuvenation.
Here are some ways to incorporate spring botanicals into your decor:
Botanical Book Pages
Years ago, I worked as a sales representative for a textbook company that sold educational materials to secondary schools. During this time, I saved many of the educational resources that I display on my bookshelves today.
Among this collection was a resource book called “The Art of Floral Design,” which had full pages of botanicals. I chose a few favorites and decided to hang the botanical book pages over our vintage fireplace mantel for spring.
Salvaged Windows
I started by hanging a couple of salvaged vintage windows over the vintage fireplace mantel in our dining room that I had picked up in Maine Thrifting with the Gals last summer.

Frame & Hang Botanical Book Pages
I framed the botanical book pages into 8 X 10 vintage gold frames that I found on Etsy. These framed spring botanicals even look cute just sitting on top of the vintage fireplace mantel.

I hung the spring botanicals on the salvaged windows with simple thumbtacks and the attached hanger, which rested on top of each frame.
Vintage Fireplace Mantel Decor
A balance of the botanical elements with other design elements, like brass candlesticks and flowers, will create a cohesive and harmonious space. By incorporating spring botanicals into your decor, you can create an inviting and refreshing atmosphere that celebrates the beauty of nature in your home.
Have you ever thought of collecting old doorknobs?
Here I added a collection of vintage glass door knobs to the brass candlestick mix on the mantel.
Forsythia
The Forsythia is finally blooming here in Vermont, and I have it scattered throughout the house! Have you ever tried to force Forsythia? See how in this Forsythia to bloom in the spring post.
Fruits and Vegetables
Displays of fruits and vegetables are a wonderful way to add color and accent the spring botanicals that you choose. Here I placed mine our dining room table just in front of the vintage fireplace mantel.
