Mother’s Day Table Setting Ideas

Creating a beautiful table setting for Mother’s Day is a thoughtful way to show appreciation for your mom or any special mother figure in your life. Here are some ideas to inspire your Mother’s Day table decor:

  • Floral Centerpieces: Use fresh flowers or create floral arrangements as the centerpiece of your Mother’s Day table. Choose your mom’s favorite flowers, or opt for a mix of colorful blooms. Arrange them in a vase, mason jar, or even a teapot for a charming touch.
  • Pastel Color Scheme: For your table setting, embrace soft and feminine colors. Use pastel shades such as blush pink, lavender, mint green, or baby blue for table linens, napkins, and plates.
  • Personalized Place Cards: Create personalized place cards for each guest, including your mom. You can use elegant cardstock, small photo frames, or even mini chalkboards. Write each guest’s name or a special message to make them feel extra special.
  • Vintage China: If you have vintage china or heirloom pieces, Mother’s Day is the perfect occasion to use them. Mix and match different patterns to create a charming and nostalgic table setting.
  • Tea Party Theme: If your mom enjoys tea, consider hosting a tea party-inspired table setting. Use delicate teacups and saucers, vintage teapots, and tiered cake stands. Serve an assortment of tea flavors and sweet treats like scones and finger sandwiches.
  • Candles and Candleholders: Incorporate candles into your table decor to set a romantic ambiance. Use candleholders in different heights and styles to add visual interest. Opt for scented candles with fragrances that your mom loves.
  • Personalized Menus: Create custom menus for your Mother’s Day meal. Include the dishes you’ll be serving, along with a personalized message for your mom. You can print them out or write them by hand for an extra personal touch.
  • Linen Napkins and Napkin Rings: Upgrade your Mother’s Day table setting with elegant linen napkins and decorative napkin rings. Choose a color or design that complements your overall theme. You can also tie the napkins with ribbons or add small floral accents.
  • Family Photos: For a sentimental touch, display framed photos of your mom and your family on the table. This can be a beautiful reminder of cherished memories and the love you share.
  • Thoughtful Table Favors: Prepare small gifts or favors for each guest to take home. It can be a mini plant, a scented candle, or a personalized keepsake. Wrap them in pretty packaging or tie them with ribbons for an extra special touch.

The most important aspect of your Mother’s Day table setting is the love and effort you put into creating a meaningful and memorable experience for your mom. Tailor the decor to her taste and preferences to make it truly special.

In my case, my mother is no longer with us, so I embraced these blue and white vintage dishes to decorate this Mother’s Day table setting, which I knew my mother would love, In My Mother’s Maine Home.

Mothers Day Table Setting with Blue and White Vintage Dishes

I found this set of antique Enoch Wood’s English dinnerware while Thrifting with the Gals a couple of years ago. It’s one of my favorite thrifted pieces of dinnerware. We use it as our everyday dishes at our home in Coastal Maine.

And I know my mother would have adored it. Blue was her favorite color, and I set this Mother’s Day table setting today in blue for her.

Cutlery Couture

I discovered Cutlery Couture’s boutique silverware pouches last summer when a friend gifted me their lobster pouches. Cutlery pouches are an ideal table accessory to elevate your Mother’s Day table settings. They have several patterns to choose from, and I chose the blue hydrangeas to accompany this day’s antique blue tablescape.

Blue Glassware

One of my favorite tablescape accessories is to add colorful glassware. Like these vintage blue goblets that I thrifted. The goblets accent the antique blue dinnerware with a coastal vibe and are brilliant for spring, too. Learn more in the Antique Amethyst Glassware: A Hidden Gem post.

Pewter

My mother adored a large pewter collection. When I went to set the table in blue, I loved how the pewter paired so beautifully with the blue and white antique dishes! The foundation of each Mother’s Day place setting is now a large pewter plate.

Mother’s Day Table Setting Centerpiece

Because today is the first day of spring, I will add some colorful tulips that I picked up at the local grocery store yesterday. The teapot is also a thrifted blue and white piece that I picked up for around $12, I believe, to help me set this Mother’s Day table in blue.

Candlesticks

Next, I chose to add a couple of antique pewter candlesticks from the same antique hutch, along with simple white tapers, to our Mother’s Day table setting.
