Ever wonder how to turn a small attic space into a functional and cozy bedroom?
I transformed ours into a quaint little guest room using antique furniture, soft layered bedding, and a few charming vintage touches.
These vintage bedroom ideas are perfect for any space—whether you’re styling a full attic suite, a tucked-away nook, or a small guest room under the eaves.

Before I started blogging, we had this little attic nook converted into a bedroom at our coastal Maine home. It was a blank slate—small, sloped, and full of potential.
I’ve since styled it with antique treasures from my parents’ home to make it feel nostalgic, homey, and perfectly snug. Today, I’m sharing a peek into this quaint attic retreat and some vintage attic bedroom ideas you can use too.

Attic Bedroom Decorating Ideas with Vintage Furniture
Keep the Furniture Simple and Statement-Worthy
When decorating a small attic bedroom, less really is more—especially when your furniture tells a story. I chose a few timeless antique pieces from my parents’ home to create a space that feels collected, not crowded. The key is to focus on functionality and charm, letting one or two standout items shine.
• Choose one signature piece, like an antique dresser or vintage iron bed, to ground the room.
• Stick to low-profile furniture that fits the angles of the attic without overwhelming it.
• Use multi-functional pieces—a small trunk can double as a bedside table or storage bench.
• Let natural patina shine. Vintage wood tones and aged finishes add warmth without the need for extra decor.

Cozy Bedding Ideas for a Small Attic Bedroom
Why Beddy’s Zippered Bedding Is Perfect for Attic Bedrooms
When it comes to attic bedroom bedding, functionality matters just as much as style. That’s why I love using Beddy’s zippered bedding in this space. I chose the Minty White set, which adds a soft, elegant touch and makes the entire room feel fresh and upscale—almost like a luxe sleeping bag for grownups.

The zip-up design makes it perfect for attic beds that are tricky to make (especially under sloped ceilings). It’s also ideal for guests—just unzip and toss it in the wash, no fuss with sheets, blankets, or extra comforters. To top it off, I added a vintage quilt from my mother and some frilly throw pillows for that final, cozy vintage touch.

I love Beddy’s bedding so much that I also use it in our RV—and it’s been a game changer there too. RV beds can be tricky to make, but the zip-up design makes it simple, neat, and cozy. It’s the same elegant look and practical comfort I love in our attic bedroom, just on the road. You can check out our full RV bedding setup in this Best RV Bedding & Antiquing Road Trips post.
Finishing Touches for a Cozy Attic Bedroom Retreat
After furnishing the space, I stopped into HomeGoods for a few final accessories to bring this attic bedroom to life. From vintage-inspired paisley rugs to a soft throw blanket at the end of the bed, these small touches added warmth, personality, and that lived-in charm I love.

Rooms like this are all about embracing comfort and nostalgia—like glamping at home. And while this bedroom has evolved slowly over the past six years, I’m now in the process of adding vintage-style wallpaper to both attic rooms for a more cohesive coastal vintage theme. It’s all coming together piece by piece!

Here are a few of the simple accessories I added to “poof” the room:
• Vintage-style paisley rugs that complement the original wood flooring
• A soft bed skirt and frilly throw pillows to add feminine charm
• Neutral throw blankets and guest towels folded in a basket for cozy touches
• Simple curtains that soften the sloped attic windows
• A classic luggage rack, which I plan to paint and embellish with vintage ribbon
• Baskets for texture and storage, perfect for an attic nook

Repurposed Oak Dresser with Mirror: A Quaint Thrifted Find
One of my favorite pieces in this attic bedroom is a repurposed oak dresser with a mirror that I found while Thrifting with the Gals. It has that perfect worn-in charm with the original mirror still intact, and the warm wood tones add richness to this soft, vintage space. It fits beautifully beneath the angled ceiling and brings both function and character to the room. I love how a single thrifted piece can anchor a room and instantly make it feel nostalgic and welcoming. → See more about this find in this Repurposed Oak Dresser with Mirror Quaint in the Attic post.

This is so beautiful!! I would really really love to know what your wall color is. It’s such a cozy Creamy paint color! Just what I’m hoping for in my home.
Thank you Chandra, we were trying to match a 25 year old white colored wall, which was downstairs in the house, so it was formulated to match that white, it’s not a particular color white if that makes sense… Similar though to Alabaster or Acadia white.
I actually want to come and stay in that room. It looks so sweet, comfortable and inviting. I love it. New to your blog but now following. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you so much Brenda. There’s just something about an attic bedroom. Don’t you think🤗
